Choosing Suspension Isn’t About Buying the Stiffest Setup

If you’ve ever searched “What suspension should I run?” online, you’ve probably ended up with more questions than answers. One person recommends a full race spec coilover setup, another says to stay stock, and someone else tells you to just drive more. Plenty of opinions, but not always much direction.

For this BRZ build, the goal was simple: close the performance gap to the GT3 without sacrificing the daily driving experience. We wanted more grip, better response, and sharper handling, but the car still needed to be comfortable enough to drive to and from the track.

Why This Setup Works

Instead of jumping straight to aggressive coilovers, this setup keeps the car approachable. The Eibach springs add stiffness and lower the center of gravity, while still working well with the factory-style dampers. The sway bars help the car stay flatter through corners without heavily affecting ride comfort during normal driving.

The Pedders front top mounts and SPC rear lower control arms allow for a more performance-focused alignment, giving the tires a better contact patch under load. After the install, the car was aligned with more negative camber front and rear, helping it stay more planted during hard cornering.
