23+ GR Corolla Infinity Design Carbon Fiber Intake

The Infinity Design Carbon Fiber Intake is a complete high-flow intake system developed specifically for the 2023–2026 Toyota GR Corolla. After more than a year of development, testing, and refinement, Infinity Design reworked the entire intake path to address the airflow and temperature limitations of the factory system.

The system combines a completely redesigned pre-preg carbon fiber slam panel, massive 170mm air filter, smooth tapered intake tube, and carbon fiber turbo inlet to deliver a larger supply of cool, unrestricted air to the G16E-GTS. Infinity Design reports dyno-tested gains of up to 40 WHP and 35 ft-lbs of torque, along with intake air temperatures as much as 30°C / 86°F lower than the factory intake.

Key Features

  • Up to +40 WHP: Infinity Design testing showed peak output increasing from 233 WHP to 273 WHP on its test vehicle.
  • Up to +35 ft-lbs of Torque: Significant torque gains accompany the increase in airflow and efficiency.
  • Up to 30°C / 86°F Lower Intake Temperatures: Designed to substantially reduce MAF temperatures compared to the factory intake.
  • 100% Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber Construction: Premium carbon construction throughout the primary intake components.
  • 170mm Air Filter: Large-format filter provides exceptional airflow capacity while maintaining a long service interval.
  • Redesigned Carbon Slam Panel: Creates a dedicated high-flow pathway that draws cool air directly from the front grilles.
  • Smooth Tapered Intake Tube: Progressively transitions from the 170mm filter toward the MAF sensor for smooth, high-volume airflow.
  • Carbon Fiber Turbo Inlet: Replaces the restrictive factory turbo inlet path with a smoother, higher-flow design.
  • Improved Throttle Response: Reduced restriction helps the engine and turbocharger respond more efficiently.
  • Increased Induction Sound: Removes several factory noise-reduction elements for a more pronounced turbo and intake sound.
  • Gloss or Matte Carbon: Available in two carbon fiber finish options.

Why We Like It

The biggest advantage of this intake is that Infinity Design did not simply replace the airbox and call it done. The factory front air feed, slam panel, airbox, intake tube, and turbo inlet were treated as one complete system. By opening up the front air supply and reducing restriction all the way to the turbocharger, the intake addresses both airflow volume and temperature instead of relying on hot engine-bay air when demand increases.

The testing is also especially interesting for cars that see repeated hard use. Infinity Design recorded much more consistent power across consecutive dyno runs, making this a compelling setup for street cars as well as track and drag applications where heat soak and repeatability matter.

How It Improves the Factory Intake

The factory GR Corolla intake incorporates several features that restrict airflow. The OEM turbo pipe uses a large Helmholtz resonator and tight-radius bend, while the corrugated EPDM connection introduces additional turbulence. Airflow through the factory airbox must also make multiple direction changes before reaching the intake tube.

At higher RPM, the factory system opens an additional flap to draw more air from the engine bay. While this increases airflow volume, it also introduces significantly hotter air. Infinity Design instead developed a dedicated front-fed intake path designed to maximize cool air from the vehicle's front grilles.

Redesigned Cold-Air Feed

One of the most significant changes is the completely redesigned carbon fiber slam panel. Rather than working around the restrictive factory opening, Infinity Design created a new panel that seals against the front chassis and directs airflow from the front grille area toward the oversized filter.

This helps the intake maintain a larger supply of cooler air without depending on hot engine-bay air as engine airflow demand increases.

Dyno-Tested Performance

  • Factory Intake Peak: 233 WHP
  • Infinity Design Intake Peak: 273 WHP
  • Peak Gain: +40 WHP
  • Reported Torque Gain: Up to +35 ft-lbs
  • Factory Intake Run-to-Run Variation: Up to 9 WHP
  • Infinity Design Run-to-Run Variation: Approximately 2 WHP

Testing was performed on a Dynojet 4WD-linked dynamometer with the vehicle otherwise stock and running 99 RON fuel. Both intake configurations were fully heat-soaked and tested using three consecutive runs under closely matched dyno-cell conditions.

Intake Temperature Testing

ECUTEK data logging showed a significant difference in MAF temperatures between the factory and Infinity Design intake systems. With the stock intake, temperatures increased substantially from approximately 4,500 RPM as the factory flap opened and began drawing hot engine-bay air.

The Infinity Design intake maintained much more consistent temperatures, with MAF temperatures at redline approximately 25–30°C lower than the factory system during testing. Manifold temperatures also remained approximately 10°C lower during the comparison.

Turbo Efficiency

Infinity Design's logged data also showed that the turbocharger was able to generate greater boost while requiring less wastegate duty. From approximately 2,500–5,000 RPM, wastegate duty was around 10% lower, while the intake produced as much as approximately 0.4 bar additional boost higher in the RPM range.

This indicates that reducing intake restriction allows the turbocharger to operate more efficiently, requiring less wastegate control to achieve greater boost pressure.

Air-Fuel Ratio Testing

During Infinity Design's testing, both the factory and upgraded intake remained rich under load. The Infinity Design system operated slightly leaner through part of the mid-range, at approximately 12 AFR compared to roughly 11.5 AFR with the factory intake, before returning to approximately 11.5 AFR from 5,500 RPM through redline.
